Firefly butts decoded!

As a child fireflies - or lightning bugs, as we used to call them - fascinated me to no end. I would sit up at night and dream of ways to capture this glow-in-the-dark stuff. I even came to a conclusion that they made glow in the dark toys from the butts of lightning bugs. I wonder if anyone guessed this 7 year old was responsible for the elimination of close to half the population of fireflies in our small town.

So when I read this article I got all excited. Scientists have finally broken the substance down and figured out exactly what proteins produce the glow. I know this isn't really technology, so I hope you'll forgive me, but isn't this cool??

It is. I think they genetically added it to a pig and made a glow-in-the-dark pig.

The colored chemical look sooo cool! and i'm glad that fireflies are decoded..
